Originally engaged as the Construction Manager, Centina’s role was expanded to full Project Management including design, interiors and approval coordination, cost planning and budget control, construction management and end user management.

The project included the complete gut out and rebuild of a heritage- listed building. The structural works were highly involved and included a full rebuild of the building interior (subfloor, suspended floor, roof and ceiling and all internal walls). The interior includes an upper level commercial kitchen and a ground floor bar and dining area built to a high level of finish.

This satisfied the client requirements to transform the existing dilapidated building into an authentic Spanish bar.

The existing structure presented a challenge as it was very unstable with major structural cracks, termite damage and salt damp issues. The works also included the construction of a cellar at the rear of the property in a confined area. The construction technique involved a contiguous piled retaining structure and reinforced shotcrete walls directly adjacent heritage listed buildings and public roads. Construction was additionally challenging as it was conducted during winter and within the water table.
